The Micro Nano Technology Research Group, lead by Professor Chang Liu, is currently undertaking government funded research programs in biologically inspired sensors and nanotechnology fabrication. We are look for interested candidates to join at the RA or postdoctoral level.

• The biologically inspired sensors project seek to develop new sensors with functions and designs found in animals. We develop advanced sensors (mainly flow sensors and tactile sensors) by using micro and nanofabrication technologies and implement such sensors in vehicle and robotics platforms.

• The nanotechnology research focuses on developing microfabricated tools for top-down nanolithography, manipulation, and surface functionalization. Specifically, the group works on multifunctional pens for scanning probe based nanolithography. We also apply microfluid technology for ink such pens and apply them for a broad range of applications, such as proteomics.

Both research assistants and postdoc positions are open immediately and will stay open until filled. Both positions offer exciting interdisciplinary research opportunities within a very dynamic research group. The group has graduated five Ph.D.s to well-positioned jobs, including tenure-track professor jobs.

RA positions are open for majors of all fields, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering (fabrication, circuit design, signal processing, control, MEMS, instrumentation, fluid mechanics), bioengineering, and material sciences. Strong interests and/or experiences in micro fabrication (MEMS) are required.
